I’ve put up a question at the Get Rich Slowly forums. I’m asking for help in working through some investment questions with my parents. If you can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

  1. I’ve also done something similar with my parents, becoming more or less their financial advisor. I read your post in the forums, and agree that it can be complicated.

What helped me the most to understand various things they had was to get on the phone with them in a 3-way call. The companies wouldn’t talk with me directly because I’m not the account holder, but having my parents on the phone authorizing my access to the information was OK. I was then able to ask all the questions I needed in order to better understand the situation. Hopefully that helps.
