April 22nd is Earth Day. Have you made any drastic changes to your life style today? Will you make changes because of this ‘holiday’?
We do our best to live as green a lifestyle as possible. We have CFLs in our heavily used lights. When old lights burn out, we replace them with CFLs. We let the temperature rise inside the house during the warmer months, and drop in the colder ones. We try to turn off lights when we leave rooms.
I’ve promised more ‘green’ oriented articles here, and I have failed to deliver. For that, I apologize. I’m trying to do better and crank out some interesting stuff.

I try to do what I can to be green, but to be honest I don’t particularly go out of my way to live a green life - just the normal stuff, such as walking wherever we can, switching lights etc off. Often the things you do to be green also make sense financially of course - saving on fuel etc.

I’m doing as much as I can, within the means that I have right now. Really, the only big change that I haven’t made yet (that’s conceivable for me to make at this time) is going vegetarian.
Although I’d like to lower my impact on the environment in that way, I have a problem: I hate all cooked vegetables. Somehow I don’t think I’d get very far on a diet consisting of salads. (I hate nuts and beans, as well, so I’d have a serious protein problem).
So currently, I’m trying to force my taste buds to accept a wider pallet of tastes, so that I might be able to cut down on my meat intake at some point later in my life.
Also, today I sorted some trash out on a main walkway of my college, to show people how much they throw away in one day (and how much of it could have been recycled!).

I care about Earth Day!
Stephanie! Becoming a keener beaner is easy. Just slowly add beans to your daily meals, either on the side or in soups, stews, or with salads. I often enjoy chick peas (garbanzo beans) or mung beans with my meals. Start small. Big changes are daunting! I wrote about becoming keen on beans via: Ten reasons soaking dried beans can change your life.
Ohh, how can you hate nuts? Do you like nut butters?

I went for a 30 mile bike ride, but I do that every Tuesday, and I drove to the place I started my bike ride from. I also convinced my brother to sign up for a huge bike ride, Hotter ‘n Hell Hundred, but I will have to drive several hundred miles to get there, doh!
I have, like you, been replacing my current light bulbs with CFL’s as they die, I can’t justify pulling working bulbs. I think about doing different things to try to reduce my impact, but overall I am not doing so well.
