Interesting Links for July 14, 2009

I’m excited today. I’ve got a meeting at church about teaching Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University with a group of other guys this fall. Should be fun and challenging. Now onto some great personal finance links.

I wrote a guest post for My Supercharged Life today. It’s not on the topic of personal finance, but on personal productivity. I say it at the beginning of the article, but I’ll say it here as well. I’m not an expert at this stuff. I wrote about a new technique I am trying by focusing on three major tasks each evening.

Following up on our tax discussion from the last few days, CNN has another article about the massive (and still growing) US deficit. We continue to spend our way into a deeper and deeper hole. Something has to give eventually whether it be spending cuts or increasing revenue through tax increases.

California is issuing IOUs to businesses and individuals that it owes money to. Supply and demand has kicked in and a sort of underground marketplace has formed where you can sell your IOU today to get your money now. Consumerism Commentary gives you the details. I find this fascinating.

PT Money discusses taxable versus tax-advantaged investing. This goes along well with what I wrote about yesterday.

Get Rich Slowly spent a weekend getting back into a frugal mentality.

Make it a great day!
