It’s a new year. For most of you out there 2009 was at best an okay year and the general consensus I’ve read is “Whew, glad that year is over!”
It’s time to set our eyes on 2010 — and get used to writing and typing 2010 rather than 2009. (It takes me about 3 months to get used to it.)
Goals are critical to make the most of this new, fresh year. (I’ve written about goals several times in the past.) Before setting your new goals for the new year… you need to review your progress on last year’s goals.
Review 2009 Goals
In 2009 my blogging goals included:
- Doubling blog traffic to 20,000 unique visitors per month
- More than double subscribers to 1,500
- Increase blog income dramatically
When I set those goals my blog traffic was at about 8,000 uniques per month, and RSS subscribers sat at 571.
I admitted at the time that these were stretch goals… meaning they would be really hard to accomplish.
I ended the year here:
- 150,000 unique visitors for the entire year: average of 12,500 with the most recent month being below that at 10,250
- 1,076 RSS subscribers
- Now earning a nice side income from blogging
I am most disappointed in the traffic numbers, but the RSS numbers are encouraging. At one point in the past I never thought I’d get to 1,000!
My 2010 Blogging Goals
I would still like to double my traffic to get to a solid 20,000 unique visitors per month. I don’t know if that’s possible, but I’m going to give it another try.
I’m going to aim for 2,000 RSS subscribers as well.
I’ve got more plans in place for earning income through blogging, but I won’t share them just yet.
For all you other bloggers out there… what do you want to accomplish in 2010?
